Phillip F. "Dutch" Collins, 69, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michelle Williamson of Crescent Park United Methodist Church and Neil L. Peck, CLS, officiating. Burial will be in Oto Township Cemetery, Oto, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by a Masonic service conducted by Tyrian Lodge 508 AF&AM, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Phillip was born on Sept. 18, 1937, on the family farm near Mapleton, Iowa, a son of Lewis and Olive (Mohrhauser) Collins. In 1956, he graduated from Oto High School.

He married Sharon K. Zerfing on Oct. 5, 1957, in Oto. The couple resided in Oto for a brief time prior to moving to Sioux City. Dutch worked in the lumber yard business for more than 40 years until retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church, the Masons, Tyrian Lodge 508 AF&AM, where he was a past master and currently the secretary. He belonged to the Sioux City York Rite, where he served as head of all three bodies. Dutch was also a member of the Sioux City Scottish Rite, the Abu Bekr Shrine and M.I.D.L. Club. He was an avid gardener and a very devoted family man and friend to many.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; three children and their spouses, Jacki and Mark King of Racine, Wis., Lori and Mark Wahlberg of Sioux City, and Greg and Michelle Collins of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Norman "Stub" and Ethel Collins of North Sioux City, Maurice "Pete" and Vera Collins of Anthon, Iowa, and William "Bill" and Delores Collins of Kingsley, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Marcene "Rusty" and Joe Guenther of South Sioux City, and Mary Ann "Toots" and Ron Ashby of Little Falls, Minn.; five grandchildren, Jessica King, Erin King, Teri Verdoorn, Ian Collins and Brittany Collins; two great-grandchildren, Haley Lynn and Alexis Kay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Donald "Duke" Collins; and a nephew, Mark Ashby.

Pallbearers will be Pat Collins, Jerry Collins, Frank Collins, Gene Collins, Jeff Collins and Doug Collins.
