June D. Cole, 81, of McCook Lake passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
June was born June 17, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Freda Levering. She grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Boniface Grade School.
She married Vernon L. Cole on Aug. 31, 1946, in Sioux City. June worked at Sioux City County Club before they moved to Huron, S.D. in 1971. While living in Huron, she managed the Hallmark Store for many years and also worked at Lewis Drug. They moved to McCook Lake in April 2010.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending the winters in Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon of McCook Lake; four daughters, Barbara Steeg and her husband, Gary of Elk Point, S.D., Geraldine Moffatt and her husband, Lyle of Sioux City, Susan Justice and her husband, Albert Justice Jr. of Burleson, Texas, and Tracey Miller of Alexandria, Minn.; a sister, Patricia Kinney of Georgetown, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Vernon A. Cole and Terry Lee Cole; eight brothers and sisters; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
