SIOUX CITY -- Gerald P. Cole, 86, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Gerald, the son of Gordon and Barb (Schafer) Cole, was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Sioux City. He received his education in the Sioux City Schools. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Philippines as a tank driver with the 775th Tank Division.
He married Marian Levering in Sioux City. Gerald worked for Sioux Tools for 40 years.
He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and camping. He was an avid fisherman. Gerald loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by one son, Dennis (Jeanette) Cole of Sioux City; one daughter, Peggy (Scott) Weber of Ramsey, Minn.; one brother, Vernon Cole of McCook Lake, S.D.; five grandchildren, Sharron, Denise, Steven, Gerald, and William; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Jaiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian; two brothers, Gene and Lowell; and one sister, Evelyn.
