Amy A. Clayton

Amy A. Clayton, 80, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa. Private family services have been held.

Amy was born on November 26, 1927 in Mapleton, Iowa to William and Bertha (Lewis) Allen. She grew up in the Mapleton area where she attended country school through the 5th grade. She then moved with her family to Onawa where she attended Onawa Public School. She later attended WIT in Sioux City.

On April 29, 1949, she married Everett I. (Abe) Clayton in Sioux City. She was a home maker and mother to her 7 children. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and knitting and was an avid reader.

Amy bowled on leagues for several years and was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Onawa.

Amy is survived by her 4 sons, Kimberly Clayton and wife Janet of Tampa, FL, Lance Clayton and wife Dawn of Onawa, IA, Barry Clayton and wife Bonnie of Onawa, IA and Jeff Clayton and wife Dawn of Dodgeville, WI, 3 daughters, Cindy Clayton of Onawa, IA, Melanie Elswick and husband David of Manassas, VA, and Terri Clayton of Monroe, WA, 12 grandchildren, Jerod, Matthew, Jacob, Jason, Misty, Timothy, Michael, Samantha, Aimee, Andrew, Cassie Clayton and Daniel Elswick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett on March 10, 1994, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
