SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Glenn F. Clark, 91, of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Per Glenn's wishes he was cremated, and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Glenn was born the son of Frank and Matilda (Larson) Clark on Feb. 11, 1919, in Meckling, S.D. He attended Morningside College before he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a lieutenant for more than three years. Glenn married Dorothy Jean (Sorensen) on June 7, 1939, and they enjoyed 72 wonderful years together.

Glenn was a prominent cattle broker in Sioux City for more than 30 years. He and his son owned and operated Clark Cattle Company and Mountain State Stockyards. While in college, Glenn and Dorothy ran the Ice Berg Ice Cream Store on Villa for two summers. Business was Glenn's passion. He was a successful self-made man, who was loved and respected by all. He was a very caring and generous man.

Glenn was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Sioux City, the Abu Bekr Shriners, where he was a Shrine Hospital Dad, and a member of the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce while he was in business. Glenn enjoyed reading, hunting pheasants and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan. His son was special to him, and he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 72 years; one son, Jim (Cindy) Clark of Sioux City; grandchildren, Heather (Louis) Dias, Brad (Staci) Clark and Erik (Melinda) Clark; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth and Rachel Dias, Ryan, David and Sam Clark; one sister, Laura Sweet of Ida Grove, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne, Harold and Loren; and five sisters, Darlene, Fern, Lois, Marie and Lona.

Memorials may be directed in Glenn's name to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, the Shrine Transportation Fund, or Hospice of Siouxland.
