Marvin Dale Chase

Marvin Dale Chase, 80, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at his residence.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marvin Dale Chase was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Earl and Captola (Chase) Chase.

He married Donna (Hemler) Peterson on Nov. 5, 1948. He worked at Flavorland Pack, Johnson Biscuit and Country Club Golf Course for many years until he retired due to illness.

He was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church. Marvin enjoyed being outdoors, and his hobbies included playing cards, golfing and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Donna J. Chase of Sioux City; two daughters, Judy Byers of Henderson, Iowa and Virginia Rose and her husband, Verryl of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a son, Richard Chase and his wife, Wendy of Sioux City; a stepson, Wesley Peterson Jr. and his wife, Judy of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Brad (Toyna), Tina, Scott, Angie (John), Marla, Eddie, Joshua (Trish) and Justin (Kari); eight great-grandchildren, Katie, Jessie, Madison, Piper, Ciara, Taryn, Kayana and Jaycee; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; six sisters; and a son-in-law.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Josh Chase, Justin Chase, Brad Peterson, Ed Cavanaugh, Scott Byers and John Vande Voorde.
