Alvaretta Castle, 81, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services have been rescheduled for 1 p.m. today at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Bishop Mark Walker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Alvaretta was born July 3, 1925, in Nevada, to Walker and Leola (Cutler) Hurd. She married Howard Castle in 1945. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include two sons, Conrad Castle of Sioux City and Howard Castle of Baraboo, Wis.; two daughters, Alice Lade of Sioux City and Anna Castle of Long Island, N.Y.; five brothers, Ted Hurd of Sioux City, Royal Hurd of St. George, Utah, Raymond Hurd of Ocledanto, Calif., Ronald Hurd of Sioux City and Vic Hurd of Adelanto, Calif.; four sisters, Winnie Thompson of Waldport, Ore., Edna Erhardt of Shenandoah, Iowa, Leola "Polli" Lambson of Ramah, N.M., and RoseAnn Marsh of Belgrade, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Dwayne Castle.
Pallbearers will be Jason Castle, Paul Castle, Taylor Castle, Devin Miller and Joseph McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lade, Scott Miller, Mark Lade and Joseph Coleman.
