SIOUX CITY -- Bonita M. "Boots" Casey, 94, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig A. Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Boots was born April 13, 1915, in Jefferson, S.D., to Victor and Odile (Provost) Cantin. She received her early education at Sacred Heart School and graduated from Sioux City Public School System.
She married Donald L. Casey on July 1, 1936, in Sioux City. To this union five sons were born, Raymond, Donald, Lawrence, Victor and Roger. She was proud to be a homemaker for her family.
She collected owls and shared her hobby of embroidery crafts with family and friends. The couple enjoyed bowling on league for many years. She was a member of a couple card club in the Sioux City area. She was a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond Casey and his wife, Sandy of South Sioux City, Donald Casey and his wife, Kathy of Corpus Christi, Texas, Larry Casey and his wife, Barbara of Savanna, Ill., Victor Casey and his wife, Ila of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Roger Casey of Sheldon, Iowa; sisters, Bernice Crone of Sioux City and Franciscan Sister Jean Ann Cantin of Dubuque, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in October 1999; sisters, Madonna Mienen and Elaine Thompson; and a young brother, Freemon Cantin.
Memorials may be offered to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
