Marjorie Carter

Marjorie Carter, 94, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007 at her home. Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave.). A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 also at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Craig Boch officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marjorie was born on July 30, 1913 in Osseo, WI, to Frank and Louise (Anderson) Young. She moved with her family to Sioux City as a young girl. She attended Sioux City school and graduated from East High School in 1931.

She married Marlowe Benson in 1932 in Sioux City he later passed away in 1961. Marjorie later married John Carter in 1964. She worked at T.S. Martins for many years until John and Marjorie moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Daytons in the shoe department.

Marjorie and John traveled all over the world; she was also an avid snowmobiler while in Minnesota. After John passed away in 1994, Marjorie moved back to Sioux City and lived with her daughter Donna since July of this year.

She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, The Dorcus Circle, and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Donna Sandage and her 3 children, Debbie Schramm and husband Jack, Cathy Sandage, Julie Peck and husband Jim, great grandchildren, Taylor Schramm and wife Jenny, Seth Schramm and wife Stephanie, Priscilla Andersen and husband Ronnie, Autumn Peck and special friend Tyler Bos, and Hillary Peck, great, great grandchildren, Abby Schramm, Jason Schramm, Carter and Jack Schramm. Marjorie is also survived by her son, Marlowe (Benny) Benson and his 4 children, Mike and wife Mitzie Benson, Lissa Durst and husband Kevin, Shelly Curry and husband Dan and Linda Barthole. Great grandchildren, Brett Benson and wife Katie, Jessie Benson, Kristi Benson and special friend Travis Bentz, and Ashley Benson, Justin Sandy, Jason Sandy, JJ Sandy, Brady Barthole and special friend Sarah Pattison, Cody Barthole and special friend Erica Frahm and Dustin Barthole, and great, great grandchildren, Carlie Durst, Kyle Durst, Ty Benson and Kayla Benson. Marjorie is also survived by a step daughter, Janet Morgan, and her children, Mark, Misty, Michelle and Mick. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen Plummer and Sarah Alice Fink.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Sherman Young and a step daughter Pat.
