Gordon H. Carlson, 81, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston and the Rev. David H. Carlson of Standing Rock Lutheran Church in Fort Ransom, N.D., officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Gordon H. Carlson was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of Gilbert and Edna (Anderson) Carlson. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1944.
He was married to Lennice McClintock on Jan. 17, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He was employed with Rogers Electric for 38 years as a traveling salesman and later was a credit manager. After his retirement, he drove for Nelson-Berger Funeral Service.
In his free time, he loved watching the Chicago Cubs on WGN, reading, doing crossword puzzles with his wife, but most of all, spending time with his family.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Men's Bible Study and St. Luke's Morning Men's Bible Study.
Survivors include his wife, Lennice Carlson of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, David and Lori Carlson of Fort Ransom, N.D., and Paul and Julie Carlson of Sioux City; and five grandchildren, Anne, Paul, Craig, Danny and Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
