Emmett C. Carlson, 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief stay.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David A. Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Emmett was born May 31, 1923, in Sioux City, the son of Martin and Vida (Chalman) Carlson. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was married previously and to this marriage three children were born. He later married Neola Rasmussen in 1980 in San Diego, Calif. He had lived in Sioux City. The couple moved to San Diego for 15 years and returned to Sioux City.
Survivors include his wife, Neola Carlson of Sioux City; two sons, Gerald Carlson of Chicago, Ill., and Emmett Carlson Jr. of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Donna Ayers of California; a sister, Virginia (Jud) Ruth of Glendale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marlo Carlson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Davenport, Larry Book, Ron Will and Gene Groth.
