Florence L. Cardwell

October 8, 1925 — March 5, 2008

Florence L. Cardwell, 82, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. with the family present at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave). A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, also at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Chaplain Kay Morrissey officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Florence was born on October 8, 1925 in Sioux City to Anthony and Libby (Sirek) Domnisse. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Schools.

On September 23, 1944, she married Kenneth Cardwell in South Sioux City, NE; the couple lived their entire lives in Sioux City. She worked at Albertsons Manufacturing and Swift Packing House for several years. She retired from Johnson Biscuit/Interbake Foods after 22 years of service, due to her health.

Florence enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping. She also loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and Bulls play ball, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Ron (Alice) Cardwell of Sioux City and Mark (Julie) Cardwell of South Sioux City; four daughters, Janet (Don) Bell of Sioux City, Susan (Leonard) Dittman of LaFayette, CO, Carol (Jim) Gill of South Sioux City, and Carla (Andy) Shockley of Pleasanton, CA; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 2006, her parents and 4 brothers, Shorty, George, Leo and Dutch.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Kevin Cardwell, Duane Cardwell, Jason Bell, Ben Cardwell, Leonard Dittman and Michael Dittman.

The family would like to thank the people of Hospice of Siouxland for their loving care and compassion for Florence. The family requests memorials are made to Hospice of Siouxland.
