Donald P. Campbell, 68, of Sioux City went to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Buchanan Ave. Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dan Thornton and Jerrill Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Mr. Campbell was born Oct. 31, 1939, on the family farm in Climbing Hill, Iowa, the son of Paul and Mildred (Christiansen) Campbell. He graduated from Climbing Hill High School.
He married Barbara Wilkerson on June 23, 1962, in Sioux City. He worked for 16 years with Raskin Packing Company. He later worked at AGP in Sergeant Bluff, retiring after 21 years of service. After retirement, he worked in the maintenance department at the Sioux City Country Club.
He was very proud of the fact that he farmed the majority of the area around Climbing Hill during his youth. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, especially reloading and target shooting. He was a member of Buchanan Ave. Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Campbell of Sioux City; a daughter, Tammy (Donald) Baker of Crown Point, Ind.; two sons, Terrill (Molly) Campbell of Humboldt, Iowa, and Jerrill (Chrissy) Campbell of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Gutwein and Connie Jordon of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clifford.
