Aretta M. Butler, 94, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Aretta was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Sparta, Ill., to Alanzo and Gertrude (Laws) Cannon.
She married Albert Butler. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1999, in Sioux City. The couple owned a restaurant called The Appetite Center from 1959 to 1966. They then owned and operated Butler Janitorial from 1966 to 1984.
Both Aretta and Albert were active in the Elks Club and very civic-minded.
Survivors include a brother, Edgar Laws Sr. of Sparta, Ill.; three nieces, Evelyn and her husband, Gary Hayes of Sioux City, Venita Moore and Portia Laws; three nephews, Edgar Laws Jr., Duane Laws and Clarence Laws; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; three brothers, Clarence Cannon, Addren Laws and Earl Laws; and a special cousin, Eunice Johnson.
