Dolores Buehre, 81, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007 at her home after several years of declining health. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Dolores was born on July 16, 1926, in Sioux City to Leo and Iva (Bellmer) Brown. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1945.
Dolores married Charles R. Mercer in 1947 to this union three children where born. She later married Clyde W. Buehre on December 31, 1959 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Dolores worked 20 years at Zenith Radio. After Zenith closed, she worked at Woolco, Shopko, and Western States Manufacturing.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Ave Maria Court of Catholic Daughters of America. Dolores enjoyed shopping and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by her two daughters, Judi Schmidt and husband Jim of Harrisburg, SD, and Cathi Henshaw and husband Larry of Sioux City, a stepson Douglas Buehre. Two grandchildren, Jodi Grice and husband Clayton of Bellevue, NE, and Todd Henshaw and wife Tina of Sioux City, three great grandsons, Cashon, Gabe and Garrett Grice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde on October 19, 1992, son, George Toby Mercer and her very special friend, Vincent Feauto in April of 2007.
Although her family will miss her every day, we are comforted to know she is in a better place and will be free of the pain and suffering she endured without complaint the past five years. We wish to thank Jackie, Benita and the other kind nurses at Siouxland Dialysis who made her treatments less burdensome. We also thank Jen, Lea, Corinne and the other nurses at Mercy Medical 6th Southeast who gave her such loving care during her last hospital stay. A special thanks goes to Hospice of Siouxland, and Dr. Thomas Schyver, Sue, and the rest of his staff who took such wonderful care of Mom during these past years.
