Emma Buechler, 99, of Sioux City died Monday, May 19, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 9 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Craig Mellendorf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Emma was born April 3, 1909, in Elk Point, S.D., the daughter of Charley and Adeal (Lavaia) Rosenbaum. She attended school in Jefferson, S.D.
She married Roy Buechler on July 15, 1949 in Dakota City. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1985, in Sioux City. She was a beef processor for almost 20 years at Armour and Co.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, making crafts for nursing homes and took pride in being a good housekeeper. She will be dearly missed by everyone who's lives she touched. She was a member of Central Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, LeRoy (Debbie) Buechler and John (Shirley) Coates, both of Sioux City; two daughters, Alice (Kent) Crandall of Sioux City and Frances (Don) Winkel of Newell, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 15 brothers and sisters; a daughter; and a daughter in infancy.
