Kenneth A. Bue

SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth A. Bue, 88, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Ken was born March 18, 1922, in Sioux City, to Alfred and Christine (Overby) Bue. He attended East High School and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an airplane mechanic, private first class.

Ken married Elaine Bruckner on July 10, 1948, in Sioux City. He was a stationary engineer and worked for Caterpillar, Warrior Hotel and Bishop Homes. He retired from Area 12 in 1984.

He was a member of the Sergeant Bluff American Legion, and the Boys of '68. He was a family man; he loved to have his family around him. He enjoyed gardening, remodeling and carpentry and anything using his hands.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Sioux City; a son, Ron and his wife, Terry of Storm Lake, Iowa; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Virgil Lidgett of Chatsworth, Iowa, and Nancy and her husband, Robert Bates of Bronson, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jacki Bue of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Vernon; two sisters, Helen and Edna; and a grandson, Daniel Bates.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lidgett, Jeremy Bue, Nathan Lidgett, Mike Finch, Shawn Frankl and Johnny Damewood. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Rustwick and Robert Millarke.
