Lola M. Brown, 92, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Countryside Senior Living.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Rev. Kathy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Lola was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Frank H. and Lena May (Reid) Lewis. She was a life long Sioux City resident. She graduated from Central High School in 1933.
She married Don M. Brown on March 14, 1936, in Papillion, Neb. She was a secretary at Irving Elementary School from 1956 to 1963 and later at Leeds High School from 1963 to 1976. She retired in 1976 after 20 years of service. Her husband, Don, preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1988, in Sioux City.
She was a long time active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Naomi Circle. She also was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Azure Chapter 540, St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, the Hawthorne Club and the Vitamin Club.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Don L. and Rosemary Brown of Marion, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Dick Copple of Dakota City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Ando Ueshiro, Stephanie Brown, Eric and Joan Brown, Jason and Teresa Copple and Nick and Sheila Copple; six great-grandchildren, Ansel, Hannah and Angus Ueshiro, Emily Brown, Taylor Copple and Bailey Copple; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jill and Mark Copple; and two brothers, Ralph and Harrell Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Angela Ueshiro, Stephanie Brown, Eric Brown, Jason Copple, Nick Copple and Keith McCuddin.
