SERGEANT BLUFF -- Lillian "Anne" Brophy, 66, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Andrew Bao Vo officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brother Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Lillian Anne was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Ponca, Neb., the daughter of Glenn and Frances (Marron) Pearson. She was raised in the Newcastle, Neb., area. After graduating from Newcastle High School, she moved to Sioux City. She worked for the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce.
She married Tom Brophy in March 1962 in Sioux City. After the couple started their family, she stayed at home to raise their children. Later, she joined her husband as they owned and operated Janitor Supply Co. for more than 20 years. She then worked part-time for several area hotels in the banquet area. Her husband, Tom, died Aug. 31, 1988 in Sioux City. She later married Alfred Muller on Oct. 27, 1991 in Sioux City.
She was a member of the Church of the Nativity. She loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed reading, baking and watching baseball.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Muller of Sergeant Bluff; four children and their spouses, Sue and John Wengert of Johnston, Iowa, Tom and Rachel Brophy of Sioux City, Laura Brophy and Stuart Bennett of Ankeny, Iowa, David Brophy of Sergeant Bluff; Laura Pedersen, someone she always considered as her adopted daughter; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Briana and Nolan Wengert, Thomas and Rebecca Brophy and Cassidy and Mackenzie Bennett; 10 siblings and spouses, Jim Pearson of Glendale, Colo., Tom Pearson of Donnybrook, N.D., Mary and Jerry Crawford of Ponca, Neb., John and Verna Pearson of Newcastle, Neb., George and Pam Pearson of Kennard, Neb., Jeannie and Randy Bottorff of Onawa, Iowa, Mike and Sue Pearson of Blair, Neb., Bill and Cathy Pearson of South Sioux City, Don and Karen Pearson of Pender and Jan Nelson of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Tom.
Pallbearers will be her brothers. Honorary pallbearers will be her sisters.
Anne's family extends a special thanks to Dr. Michael Jung and staff as well as Hospice of Siouxland, especially Anne Newman.
