Perlina E. Broderick

Perlina E. Broderick, 88, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, May 4, 2006, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Walthill, Neb. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Perlina was born April 12, 1918, in Palisade, Minn., the daughter of George and Mae (Forman) Tucker. She attended school in Walthill.

She married Bernard M. "Ben" Broderick Sr. on May 12, 1936, in Elk Point, S.D. Mr. Broderick died May 27, 1999, in Sioux City. Perlina had worked at Walbaums in Wakefield, Neb., as well as J.C. Penney's, Woolco and Roe Dairy in Sioux City. She had also sold insurance for the Royal Neighbors in Pender, Neb.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include three children, Ellen Campbell and her husband, Glen of Clovis, N.M., Mike Broderick and his wife, Lois of Canton, S.D., and Patty Sullivan and her husband, Nick of Ponca, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Leonard and Bert Gill and their children, Bob, Jeanie, Bernie and Ginger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Pearl, the twins, Edith and Eva, Florence and Viola; and a half brother, William Wright.

Pallbearers will be Brian Broderick, Nick Sullivan Jr., Kevin Hohenstein, Randy Collins, Tom Clark and Bernie Gill.
