SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Isabel Madeline Brant, 94, of South Sioux City passed away very peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City surrounded by her family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Ring of Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Isabel was born March 24, 1912, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Bascomb Leigh and Blanche (Johnson) Coburn. In 1918, she moved with her family to Sioux City, where she attended Central High School.
She married Archie A. Jackson on April 27, 1929, in Elk Point, S.D. Archie preceded her in death on July 4, 1973, in Sioux City. She later married Ernest W.D. Lester in May 1939, in Elk Point, S.D. More recently, she married Marvin O. Brant in 1960, in Elk Point. Marvin preceded her in death in 1977 in California.
She worked at the Sioux City Air Base as a motor pool dispatcher from 1944 to 1945. Next she was employed at the Warrior Hotel from 1946 to 1948, where she ran the PBX and was an auditor and night clerk. She also was a general cashier and night auditor at the Martin Hotel from 1948 to 1964. Later, when she lived in Le Mars, Iowa, she was employed at Archie's Waeside from 1972 to 1992, serving in many capacities. More recently, she volunteered as a senior home companion from 1993 to 2004.
She was a member of Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church. She enjoyed singing and was a member of Sweet Adeline's for several years. She will no doubt be remembered for never forgetting a birthday and anniversary.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie of Le Mars, Iowa and her children, Renate and her husband, Craig Maxey, Lorrie and her husband, Jim Luense, Madelyn Leigh, Christopher Rand and Bob Rand and his wife, Dana; a daughter, Sharon Rae Strohm of Castana, Iowa, and her children, JoAnn Snyder, Sharyl and her husband, Kirk Jennings, John Strohm and his wife, Lori, Lisa and her husband, Jack Holden, Laura and her husband, Tony Brende and Jacob Strohm and his wife, Jen; Glory Fletcher's daughter, Nancy and her husband, Mike Mitchell; a daughter, Sue and her husband, Ed Holdcroft of Kingsley, Iowa and their children, Ed Holdcroft and his wife, Terri, Shelley and her husband, John Grubb, Kelly Mesner, Cindy Jones and Nanciann and her husband, Joe Nilles; a son, Tim E. Lester of Sioux City and his children, Julie and her husband, Joe Sylvestro, Kelly and her husband, Edwin Harris, Tim M. Lester and his special friend, Cindy Edwards and Brian Lester and his wife, Becky; a daughter, Rhoda J.
LaScala of Coppell, Texas and her children, Kim Frazier and his wife, Jeanne, Kyri and her husband, Kendall Young, and Jami and her husband, Jim Tritz; 58 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Glory Fletcher; a brother, Elbert Coburn; and two grandsons, Victor Frazier and Joseph Snyder.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, John Albert Strohm, Timothy Michael Lester, Bob Rand, Kim Todd Frazier, Kory L. Mitchell and Nanciann Melinda Nilles.
