Ella L. "Snooks" Bracht, 69, of Sioux City died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Snooks was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Hartington, Neb., to Kermit and Loretta (Remington) Hamilton. She graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City.
She married Robert J. Bracht on June 27, 1958, in Sioux City. She worked in the dietary department at St. Joseph Hospital, then Mercy Medical Center for a combined total of 27 years.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She had been a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and belonged to a ladies card club. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending all their sports activities.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Sioux City; six children, Kimberly and her husband, Tim Daugherty of Sioux City, Michael Bracht of McCook Lake, S.D., Steven Bracht and his wife, Darlene of Sioux City, Renae and her husband, David Yockey of Sioux City and Richard Bracht and Jayme Bracht, both of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Franklin and Gloria Lanphear of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Dawn and her husband, Adam Beckwith, Patrick Daugherty, Tony and Dianna Bracht, Nicole, Cassie and Haley Bracht; and a stepgrandson, Jacob Haefs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Lanphear; a brother-in-law, Don Coulson; and a sister-in-law, Linda Bracht.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hegarty, Tony Bracht, Pat Daugherty, Doug Coulson, Wade Lanphear and Adam Beckwith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dianna, Dawn, Nicole, Cassie, Haley and Jake.
