Elmer A. Bouska

Elmer A. Bouska, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Countryside Retirement Home following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Al McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mr. Bouska was born April 13, 1921, in Wagner, S.D., the son of Louis and Katherine (Humpal) Bouska. He grew up on a farm near Wagner and graduated from high school there.

He married Marjorie Hamm on July 3, 1968, in Sioux City. She died Sept. 2, 1992, in Sioux City. He worked for one year at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash. and came to Sioux City in 1962. He worked for Gibson Appliance for many years.

He had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed reading about investments and studied about herbal medicine. He liked to play cards and in his early years was a boxer. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews including, Joan Brodsky of Vermillion, S.D.; several grandnieces and grandnephews including, Curt Brodsky and his wife, Cindy of Vermillion and Gregg Brodsky and his wife, Bonnie of Spokane, Wash., and Shelly and her husband, Dale Husby of Vermillion; and a brother-in-law, James Smith and his family of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Louis and Charles; and two sisters, Agnes and Mildred.

Pallbearers will be Curt and Gregg Brodsky, Merle White, James, Shannon and Kevin Smith, Dale Husby and Ernest Dandurand.
