Bornholtz, 95 of Sioux City will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, August 10, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. and a prayer service to follow at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Viola passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Westwood Care Center.
Viola was born on December 10, 1913 in Sioux City to Herman and Mary Brouwer. Viola attended Central High School. She was married to Harold Bornholtz on November 17, 1930 in Denison, Iowa. He preceded her in death in January of 1984. Viola worked as a waitress serving at Martins Tea Room, Younkers Red Rooster, and the Milwaukee Weiner Shop. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Azure Chapter #540. Violas first love was working and being with people, she enjoyed fishing with her husband, flowers, loving her family, baking cookies, walking and being active in the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her 4 children, daughter DeLores (Jack) Blades of Cherokee; son Carmen (Janice) Bornholtz of Sioux City; daughter Marlene (Curt) Vanderloo of Merrill; and son Von (Vicki) Bornholtz of Sioux City; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 grandchildren, Lonnie Bornholtz, Scott Blades, and Starla Cason, 1 brother Harold Brouwer, 4 sisters Hermina Horton, Gladys Sieh, Christina Taute, and Helen McNaughton.
