SIOUX CITY -- Lowell J. Boisen, 76, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Private graveside services will be at a later date.
Lowell was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Iowa City, Iowa, to John C. and Linda (Zock) Boisen. He graduated from Early (Iowa) Consolidated School in 1950.
He married Mary Ann Hildebrand on April 12, 1954, in Sioux City. Mary passed away June 20, 2008, in Sioux City. He worked and retired with Sioux By-Products Co. He later worked with the Livestock Exchange Commission on the cattle auction.
He was a member of Tri-State Antique Tractor Club and Lutheran Social Services. He loved going to tractor shows and tractor parades. He was an avid weight lifter for most of his life. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by five sons, David Boisen of Sioux City, Danny Boisen and his wife, Debbie of South Sioux City, Doug Boisen of Sioux City, Darwin Boisen of Sioux City and Don Boisen of Sioux City; a daughter, Diane Boisen of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
