Dale Allen Bohner

Mr. Dale Allen Bohner, 88, long time educator in the Sioux City School system, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Funeral services for Dale Bohner will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in Dales name for an educational scholarship fund. Online condolences may be sent to Arangements by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Dale Bohner was born on July 22, 1922 in Scotland, SD. After graduation from Scotland High School, he attended Westmar College in Le Mars, IA. During this time, he proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, he obtained his Bachelors Degree from Westmar. He continued his education at the University of Iowa and graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Dale Bohner was passionate about teaching and positively impacted many lives throughout his 46-year career as an educator. He held teaching positions at Cherokee High School, Central High School, and Westmar College. He served as the Head of the Business Department at North High School from the schools opening until his retirement at age 70. Dale Bohner also had a very successful 50-year career with Rain and Hail Insurance.

Dale is survived by his wife Maxine Bohner of Sioux City; daughter Barbara (William) Clark of Perry, IA; daughter Sandra Worthen of Perry, IA; daughter Denise (Peter) Smith of Minneapolis, MN; and son Jere Bohner of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Lena (Davidsen) Bohner, his sister Eva Ruth Grigg, and Elizabeth Bohner.
