Roman H. Bockholt

Funeral mass for Roman H. Bockholt, 86 of Sioux City will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father James Bruch officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Roman passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at his residence. Arrangements are by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Roman was born on June 3, 1923 in Fordyce, NE to Henry and Cecilia (Kremer) Bockholt. He attended schools in Constance, NE. He served his country in the US Army during World War II serving in the Philippines and Korea. He was married to Bernadette Steffen on April 14, 1947 in Constance, NE. She preceded him death on October 23, 2005. Roman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and doing odd jobs for family and friends. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He is survived by 2 sons Mike Bockholt and John Bockholt; and 1 daughter Donna (Tom) Mullen all of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sons Paul and Brian Bockholt, a daughter-in-law Patti Bockholt, 3 brothers Leo, Sal and Nubs Bockholt and a sister Betty Steffen.
