SIOUX CITY -- Daniel C. Blanchard, 59, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at a local hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to meyerbroschapels.com.
Dan was born May 21, 1951, to Arlo and Jan (Hedlund) Blanchard in Sioux City. He received his education in the Sioux City Schools, graduating from Leeds High. He married LuAnn Epling in Hinton, Iowa.
Dan worked in sales for his father's company, ARB & Co., and also for Dennis Company. He later partnered to open Win Air and worked in the business until his illness forced him to retire.
Dan enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life and was a member of the Boys of 68. He liked to garden, hunt and fish. In his younger years he enjoyed auto mechanics, and was always working on a vehicle in the garage.
Dan is survived by one son, Jeff Blanchard of Sioux City; one daughter, Jackie (Sam Blakey) Blanchard of Sioux City; two brothers, Allen (Cindy) Blanchard of Sheridan, Wyo., and Mark Blanchard of Sioux City; and four grandchildren, Jayson, Matt, Samantha and Tyrell; and special best friends, Craig and Kathy Martin of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Samuel.
