Larry Betsworth, 68, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Larry was born April 22, 1939, in Sioux City, the son of Elmer and Ethel (Kounkel) Betsworth. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools.
He married Sherry L. Prichard on Nov. 8, 1958, in Sioux City. He worked for the city of Sioux City for 41 years, retiring in 2001. After his retirement, the couple moved to Spirit Lake.
While living in Sioux City, he was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. While living in Spirit Lake, he was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Ed and Rhonda (Flick) Betsworth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Elena, Apollo, Jannessa and Larrissa Betsworth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bud Johnson; and a sister, Bernice Muecke.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Krause, Denny Krause, Paul Bohlke, John Rumbaugh, Larry Zinke and Donny Muecke.
