Dorothy M Bergsmith

Dorothy M. Bergsmith, 80, of Sioux City died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at a Sioux City retirement home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy was born May 21, 1926, in Tripp, S.D., the daughter of Stephen and Anna (Plavec) Sedlacek. She grew up in Scotland, S.D. and was a life time resident of Sioux City.

She married Everett "Del" Bergsmith on July 19, 1954, in Vodanny, S.D.

She was a member of St. Michael's and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed watching the Cubs play with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Everett "Del" Bergsmith of Sioux City; four daughters, Terese (Mike) Benson of Murphy, N.C., Lauri (Eric) Oehlerking of Burkburnett, Texas, Debbie (Steve) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Cathy (Alan) Clark of Sioux City; a son, James Everett Bergsmith of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Joseph (Stefanie) Bergsmith, Marie Oehlerking, Elizabeth Clark and Kasie Benson; and two great-grandchildren, Kira and Ella Bergsmith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alvin Sedlacek.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Bergsmith, Eric Oehlerking, Alan Clark, Steve Smith, Dave Fischer and Mike Mertens.
