William J. Bennett Jr., 85, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Private graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Alta Morgan officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mr. Bennett was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Anthon, Iowa, the son of William J. and Mae Beatrice (Rowley) Bennett Sr. Mr. Bennett was never married. He was employed as a church custodian along with his father for 50 years at Mayflower Congregational Church.
He was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church.
Survivors include a brother and his wife, Robert and Constance Bennett of Sioux City; a sister, Nancy Zweber of Minneapolis; three nephews; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Beatrice Joseph and Mary Grefe.
