Grover L. Bennett, 83, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenneth A. Schmidt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Reserve. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Grover was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Wayne, Neb., the son of Harry and Juanita (Brink) Bennett. He graduated from Marionville (Mo.) High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Grover was a farmer and especially enjoyed horses.
Grover was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1979. He was active in 4-H and the garden clubs. He enjoyed raising irises and lilies and also woodworking.
Survivors include three sons, Terry (Barb) Bennett of Sioux City, Mike Bennett of Coarsegold, Calif., and Gerry (Debbie) Bennett of Sioux City; two daughters, Mary Ceja of Aurora, Mo., and Jennifer (Fred) Garcia of Redondo Beach, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
