Beverly A. Bemrich, 79, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Hospice Unit at Indian Hills Nursing & Rehab after a brief illness.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Knierim, Iowa, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Beverly Ann was born May 23, 1928, in Sioux City, the daughter of Earl Hamner and Mae (Roberts) Hamner. After her father's death her mother married Nelson Wanned who helped raise her. After graduating from East High School in 1946, she was employed by Burnett Motor Co. On June 21, 1958, she was united in marriage to Darrell Bemrich. The couple made their home near Knierim where they farmed for many years. Her husband died Dec. 19, 1986, in Rochester, Minn. Bev moved back to Sioux City in 1989.
Bev was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Siouxland Crafters and the Sioux City Women's Club. She was an active volunteer at her daughter's veterinary clinic, Westwood Animal Hospital, Sloan, Iowa, and also at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.
Bev was known for her beautiful needlepoint work and she also liked to cross-stitch.
Survivors include a daughter Dianne Johnson and her husband Jerry of Storm Lake, Iowa; two grandchildren, Darren and Emily Johnson of Storm Lake; a sister Virginia Hamner of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law Linda Dangelser of Manson, Iowa; and many faithful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, her husband, and a son Douglas.
Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland, the June Nylen Cancer Center, Sioux City or Concordia Lutheran School, Storm Lake.
