NEWCASTLE, Neb. -- D. Paul Beldin, 78, lifelong resident of Newcastle passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 008, after a brief illness.
Per Paul's wishes, there will a private graveside service in Newcastle Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Congregational Church in Newcastle. Following visitation, there will be refreshments and fellowship at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Paul was born April 2, 1930, in Ponca, Neb. He was one of 11 children born to Harley C. and Vera (Still) Beldin. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1948. He then entered the U.S. Army for two years. Upon his discharge, he became a mechanic at the Deep Rock Gas Station in Ponca, Neb., until he retired.
Paul married Betty L. Whelchel on Feb. 29, 1952, in South Sioux City.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Newcastle; two daughters and their husbands, Sandy and David Cusatis and Pamela and Dennis Lamprecht, all of Ponca, Neb.; two granddaughters, Melissa Dowling and Heather Tibbetts, both of Ponca; a grandson and his wife, Paul and Julie Lamprecht of Ponca; two great-granddaughters, Lorena Carmona and Jordan Lamprecht, along with two great-grandsons, Justin Carmona and Taylor Tibbetts, all of Ponca.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn and his wife, Kay; a brother, Earl; a sister, Madge and her husband, Ralph Kuhl; and his other five brothers and a sister died in infancy.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Reinert, Greg Waterbury, Paul Lamprecht, John Lowe, Kelly Bostwick and Kevin Whelchel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Lamprecht and David Cusatis.
