Jay was born March 28, 1966, in Sioux City, to Roy and Ruth Becker. He was baptized and attended Riverside Lutheran Church. He attended West High School through the 10th grade, then attended the GRE program. He lived in various residences and residential group homes in Sioux City and the surrounding areas. His final residence was at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City, where he had great and tender care from the staff.
Jay loved being with family and friends and his sense of humor was infectious. He especially loved the time he had with his dad, going to car races, tinkering on cars and projects and the early morning hours delivering newspapers followed by coffee and doughnuts. He was always active. He enjoyed fishing and could be seen walking or biking across town. Those who knew Jay, loved jay and his bright spirit.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Becker; two sisters, Jinna R. (Dana) Ralston and Joanna D. Watkins, both of Sioux City; and two nieces, Callie and Caitlin Ralston of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse; his father; and a nephew, Adam M. Ralston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation or Riverside Lutheran Church youth programs.
