Dorothy C. Beck, 81, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 5:30 8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Reverend David Schoop officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dorothy was born July 26, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa to August and Beulah (Roeder) Ebrecht. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Leeds High School in 1943. While she was in High School, she worked as an usherette at the Orpheum Theatre. Prior to her marriage Dorothy also worked at Wincharger. Dorothy married Paul Albert Bud Beck on April 10, 1947 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They made their home in Leeds until 1955 when they moved to rural Plymouth County. Dorothy then became a homemaker and mother to their three children.
Dorothy was very active with her childrens school activities and church. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she was Baptized and Confirmed in 1947. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. Dorothy also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Danny J. Beck and wife Kathy of Hinton, Iowa: Corlee K. Scott and her husband Rick of Sioux City, Iowa: and Robin A. Mohl and her husband Richard of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. A brother Wallace Ebrecht of Houston, TX: grandchildren; Chad Beck, Erin Weiland and her husband Stacy, Shane Scott and special friend Jennifer Lowell, Tate Scott and his wife Paige, Angela DeWolfe and her husband Dennis, and Brian Mohl. great grandchildren; Alexandra, Sydnee, Sierra, Sawyer, McKenna, Kyleigh, Alyssia, Cooper, Alayna and granddog Mick, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Bud on December 25, 1989, and siblings, Alice, Donald Mickey, and Robert.
