JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Blaine O. Beavers, 82, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Blaine was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Jefferson, the son of Raleigh and Dora (Mohr) Beavers.
He married Beatrice Kenny on Dec. 8, 1946. he worked at Park Jefferson, Sodrac Park and the Daily Redwood Lumber Yard before farming fulltime. He also had a pumpkin patch.
He was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine and was a past president of the Sahibs Unit. He enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; sons and their wives, Brad and Connie and Mike and Dixie, all of Jefferson; daughters, Pam of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Cindy O'Connor and Tim Cahill of Ona, Fla.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Harvey.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
