SIOUX CITY -- Beatrice J. Beavers, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Jefferson, S.D., died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Bickford Cottage II in Sioux City.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Beatrice J. Beavers was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Sioux City, the daughter of Claude and Gertrude (Mack) Kenny. She was married to Blaine Beavers on Dec. 8, 1945, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2008, in Sioux City. She was a housewife.

She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. In her free time, she loved to do needlepoint work and spend time in her flower and vegetable gardens. For many years, she and her husband ran a pumpkin patch south of Jefferson. The couple also loved to travel in their R.V. to Florida, Texas and Arizona prior to Blaine's illness.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Brad and Connie Beavers and Mike and Dixie Beavers, all of Jefferson; two daughters, Pam Beavers of Dakota Dunes and Cindy O'Connor and Tim Cahill of Ona, Fla.; a grandson, Joby; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Shelly; two sisters, Helen and Evelyn; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Frances and Genevieve; and three brothers, Jack, Harry and Donavan.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
