Dorothy "Lorraine" Beaubien, 89, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Sunrise Retirement Community following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Lorraine was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Sioux City, the daughter of Earle and Gladys (Jepson) West. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, then worked as a commercial artist. She designed the original bunny logo for Wells' Blue Bunny. She was employed by a photography studio, Younker's Department Store and for a brief time at Sportman's.
On Nov. 28, 1940, she married Glenn E. Beaubien in Sioux City. He died in March 1996 in Sioux City.
In her early years, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She and her husband Glenn were active in the Jaycees. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and volunteered for other projects. Her primary interests were arts and crafts; she was active in the Y-Wives, now known as Siouxland Crafters. She also enjoyed gardening and reading.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Tom and Ruth Beaubien of Wentzville, Mo., and Steven and Janann Beaubien of Tea, S.D.; three grandchildren, Glenn "Beau" (Kelly) Beaubien, Todd Beaubien and Jenee Lorraine (Dan) Boetel; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland.
