Helen K. Bauer, 94, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley City Cemetery at Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Helen K. Bauer was born Feb. 21, 1914 in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, the daughter of Sigurd and Alma (Dallen) Sivertson. She grew up in Sergeant Bluff and Kingsley before coming to Sioux City. Helen married Clyde Lehman and later married James W. Bauer on Aug. 23, 1960 in Sioux City. Mr. Bauer died Sept. 7, 2005 in Sioux City.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed sewing, fishing, and playing cards, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include; five children, Dick Lehman of Columbia, S.C., Patsy Morrow and her husband Walter of Sioux City, Donald Lehman and his wife Pam of Maui, Hawaii, Douglas Lehman of Sioux City, Gary Lehman and his wife Linda of Omaha, Neb.; four stepchildren, Pam Pinson and her husband Charles of Madison, Alaska, Faye Self of Neosho, Mo., David Bauer and his wife Carla of Bentonville, Ark., Susan Tevebough and her husband Dwayne of Springdale, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Sister Mary Jane Koenigs.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Bauer; a daughter, Janet Mowery, two stepsons, James Bauer Jr. and Jon Bauer; and two brothers, Jack and Gene Sivertson.

Pallbearers will be Doug Lehman Jr., Damian Brand, Derrick Brand, Greg, Steve and Brian Hanson.
