Allen C. Barnes, 65, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City following a brief battle with cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. A.T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Don Wood officiating, at the funeral home. Allen was born March 4, 1941, in Sioux City, to Walter and Olga (Olson) Barnes. He grew up in Sioux City attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He retired from Purina after working there for more than 30 years due to ill health.
Survivors include his mother, Vera Smith of Sioux City; a daughter, Lillie Parrett and her husband, Glenn of Sioux City; three brothers, Gary Barnes and his wife, DeEtta of Houston, Texas, Roy Smith and his wife, Reida, and Melvin Smith, all of Shephardsville, Ky.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doran Barnes; and two sisters, Eileen Luft and Arliss McClanahan.
Pallbearers will be Glenn, Tom and Cody Parrett, Larry Thoman, Jiles Barbee Jr. and Terry Miller.
