Joyce Susan Banka, 72, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
There will be no service. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Joyce Susan Banka was born May 2, 1936, in Brunkild, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Herman and Emily (Bishop) Amenda.
She married Robert Banka on June 25, 1955, in Winnipeg, Canada. She was an accountant specialist for Duffy Arch and Terra. She was previously employed with the Sioux City School District and the Woodbury County Probation Office.
She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, baking and most of all her grandchildren. She was an original member of the Abu Bekr Clownettes and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Banka of Sioux City; a son, Andy Banka of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Kathi (Guy) Sheehan of Tooele, Utah; two grandchildren, Dustin and Erica Sheehan; a brother, Kingsley (Susie) Amenda of British Columbia, Canada and their son, Dale; and a sister, Valerie (Ed) Nikkel of Manitoba, Canada and their daughters, Sharon, Janice and Brenda.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
