Lois G. (Smith) Bandfield, 86, of Sioux City passed away on May 25, 2008, at a Sioux City Nursing Home.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. on May 30, 2008 at Mayflower Congregational Church U.C.C. with the Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Lois was born December 19, 1921 at Milford, Iowa to Peter and Charlotte (Albrecht) Diederich. She graduated from Milford High School in 1940 and moved to Sioux City to attend beauty school. In 1942 Lois graduated from Samuels School of Beauty Culture and worked as a beautician in Sioux City until her retirement in 1984.
She married Roy R. Smith on April 19, 1943. Roy passed away September 1, 1969. On January 22, 1972 Lois married Robert (Bob) C. Bandfield. Bob passed away January 2, 2003.
Lois was an active member of Mayflower Congregational Church UCC since 1957.
Survivors include sons Kenneth R. (Charla) Smith of Bennett, Colorado and Steven R. (Susan) Smith of Sioux City, Iowa; step children James Bandfield of Clearwater, Florida, Pam (Tim) Ross of Sioux City, Iowa and Wendy (Gaylen) Moen of Destin, Florida.
Lois is also survived by three grandchildren, Troy (Angie) Smith, Eric (Brianne) Smith and Trina (Jason Ripley) Smith; five step grandchildren, William Halfrich Jr., Jyll Ross, Adam (Rachel) Ross, Christopher Bandfield and Jennifer Bandfield; two great grandchildren, Sophie Ripley and Ashlyn Smith; four step great grandchildren Ross Clarey, Brodie Clarey, Logan Clarey and Hadli Ross.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, a sister, Zita Slater, a nephew Scott Nordstrom and a stepson William Bandfield.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Mayflower Congregational Church United Church of Christ.
