Darlene C. Baker

Darlene C. Baker, 70, of Sioux City entered into rest Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at her residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.mm. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Darlene was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Dieckmann) Jaminet.

She married Arthur Baker on Elk Point, S.D. Art passed away in 1979. She came to Sioux City and worked for American Cleaners and Swift and Co. until they closed. She then worked for John Morrell, then Davenport Cleaners, where she was a seamstress.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved doing upholstery work on couches and chairs. Her biggest talent was her crocheting. She also loved watching NASCAR.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Arthur Roy Baker Jr. of Sioux City, Michele "Shele" Rowe of Sioux City and William J. Baker and his wife, Kandi of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Jerry and Patty Jaminet of Heath, Texas; a sister, Janice Pfrimmer of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Whitney, April, Amanda, Stephanie, Cathy, Logan and Emily; three great-grandchildren, George Jr., Elena and Ava; two special individuals who touched her life, Amber and Lexi; a sister-in-law, Linda Jaminet of South Sioux City; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Darrell, Donald and Mark; and her mother and father-in-law, Dollie and William Baker.

Pallbearers will be Jim and Jerry Tieck, David Clark, Duane Schuur, Doug Jaminet and John Vlahoulis.
