SIOUX CITY -- Joseph Paul Azara, 72, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at a local hospital.
A private family service will be held at a later date, officiated by the Rev. Merlin Schrad. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Joseph was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Chicago, Ill, to Joseph and Grace (Frisian) Azara. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Mary K. Azara of Omaha, Neb.; his children, Sally Bishop and her husband, John Jr. of Omaha, Suzie Whitmore and her husband, Warren of Sioux City, and Jim Azara and his wife, Tracey of Omaha; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; cousins, Grace Scardina, Nancy Cacioppo, Leonard Camp; and many other family and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Forchione.
