Garland S. Armstrong, 97, formerly of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Garland, the son of Grover and Myrtle Armstrong, was born March 29, 1913, in Oakland, Iowa.
He married Vivian M. Bird in Atlanta, Ga. shortly after World War II. The couple moved to Sioux City and were lifelong residents. He worked as a bus driver for several years, as well as working for Swift Packing House and Sioux City Brick and Tile.
He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and tinkering.
He is survived by a son, Dan Armstrong of Sioux City; two daughters, Linda Auen of Sioux City and Julie Baskin of Omaha; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
