Sheryll Sue Sherry Andresen, 72 of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14th in the Schaller (Iowa) Cemetery with Rev. Adam Cox officiating. Sheryll Sue Andresen was born in Sioux City on July 16, 1937. She was the oldest daughter of Henry and Geraldine (Veitch) Andresen and grew up in Schaller, Iowa. Sherry, as she preferred to be called, graduated from Schaller High School in 1955. In the fall of 1955 she enrolled at Wayne State College in Nebraska and after 2 years was awarded an associate degree in elementary education. She then accepted a teaching position in Galva, Iowa where she taught elementary classes for 3 years. In 1960 she moved to Sioux City and taught in the elementary schools there for 36 years. She attended Morningside College and graduated with a BS degree in elementary education with minors in History and English. She retired from teaching in 1997 after 39 years. She is survived by a sister, Beverly Sharbondy of Sioux City; 4 nieces and a nephew, Shelly Sharbondy and her husband, Tony Kanwar of Minneapolis, MN, Greg Sharbondy of Hollywood, FL, Tammy Moran and her husband, Kevin of Sioux City, Courtney Wegscheid and her husband, Scott of Greeley, CO and Hillary Martin of Greeley, CO; and 8 grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Gwen Andresen and Jo Andresen.
