Ruth O. Anderson, 84, of Sioux City, formerly of Aberdeen, S.D., died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be held at a later date in Aberdeen. Further arrangements will be through Spitzer Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Local arrangements are being handled by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Ruth was born Aug. 30, 1923, in St. Paul, Minn., to Rev. Paul and Oleta (Rolewitch) Grosshuesch She spent her growing years in and around Sheboygan, Wis. She was a 1947 graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School for Nursing in Moline, Ill.
She married James Anderson on Aug. 13, 1949, in Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2006, in Sioux City. Ruth worked and taught nursing in Fargo, N.D., and at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, and First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed golf, bridge and was accomplished in needlepoint. One of Ruth's greatest joys was her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Robert Anderson and his wife, Kathy of Dakota Dunes, and Paul Anderson of San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Barb Link and her husband, Horst of St. Louis, Minn.; a brother, David Grosshuesch of San Diego, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Eric, Elizabeth, Becca, Hans, Ingrid and Steffen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Donald; and a grandson, Michael Link.
