Constance A. Anderson

March 24, 1932 — June 4, 2010

NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Constance A. "Connie" Anderson, 78, of North Sioux City died Friday, June 4, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital from injuries received in a fall she suffered on Memorial Day.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Connie was born March 24, 1932, in Kingsley, Iowa, as the youngest of six children born to Bill and Viola Puttman. Connie graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1950. She married Paul Prince in 1951. From this union, they were blessed with their three children, Michael, Vicky and Linda. Connie married Charles Anderson on July 31, 1969, and from this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Edie.

During her working years, Connie worked at local businesses including Zenith and Green Gables. In 1977, Chuck and Connie purchased the Freeway Gas Station in Riverside which they operated together until Chuck's retirement due to poor health. Connie continued on with the business and also purchased the 76 Truck Stop in North Sioux City in 1984. Connie ran both businesses successfully for many years. After selling the Freeway Gas Station, she focused on her Truck Stop business, which was booming from the introduction of the South Dakota video lottery. Even after she turned the business over to her daughter, Linda in 1994, Connie was known to all her customers and employees as a charismatic, savvy, no-nonsense business woman who would never hesitate to speak her mind.

In their retirement, Chuck and Connie loved to travel the country in their motor home and decided to settle in Yuma, Ariz. Connie remained in Arizona after Chuck's passing in 1997, until moving back to North Sioux City in 2002 to be closer to her family.

Connie was a devoted member of the St. Boniface Parish and could be found there every Saturday at 3:15 p.m. She loved her faith and was a true believer in God's grace. Connie was also a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was the true matriarch of our family and always looked out for the well-being of everyone around her. Her fiery spirit and quick sense of humor was enjoyed by all who met her.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael Prince of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Vicky Prince of Sioux City; daughter, Linda (Donald) Boyer of North Sioux City; and daughter, Edie Anderson of Tempe, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Michael Prince Jr., Marla Prince and her fiance, Josh Daniels, Mason Prince, Alison (Matt) Hanna, Taylor Prince, Jamie (Tony) Vondrak, Tony, Amanda and Krista Anderson and Autumn Boyer; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Gollhoffer of Aurora, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Puttman of Kingsley, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Darlene Stusse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; and her brothers, Randy Puttman, Stan Puttman, Max Puttman and Bill Puttman.

Memorials may be sent in Connie's name to the Sioux City Heelan Student Tuition Fund.
