Constance Arlene Andersen, 75, of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 15, 2007, at a local hospital, following a brief illness, surrounded by her family.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Chuck Wolff officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Constance was born Dec. 18, 1931, on the family farm near Bronson, Iowa, the daughter of William A. and Mabel V. (Lighthall) Cornils. She moved with her family to Sioux City as a young girl.
Connie married Arlis A. Andersen on Jan. 28, 1951, in Sioux City. The couple were married for 28 years. She had been a resident of Sioux City for several years before moving to Ponca City, Okla. in 1981. She later returned to Sioux City in 1990.
Connie worked in several occupations throughout her years, including Johnson Biscuit Company, trucking with her husband, was a meter maid for the city of Sioux City and owned and operated Andy's Cafe in Hawarden, Iowa. She was also a cashier with Sioux Harbor Truck Stop and most recently, Wal-Mart, where she retired.
She was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading and collecting turtles. Connie especially cherished spending time with her family. She was very proud that all her children graduated from East High, just as she had done in 1950.
Survivors include five children, Douglas A. Andersen and his wife, Darlene of Dakota City, Marsha A. Boykin and her husband, Alfred, Arles A. Andersen Jr. and his significant other, Gwen Reese, Paul A. Andersen and his wife, Patty, all of Sioux City and Ruth Ann Knuth and her husband, Rob of Westfield, Iowa; a brother, James M. Cornils and his wife, Mary Alys of Dexter, Mich.; a sister, Nancee A. Luebbert and her husband, Gene of Knoxville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Craig and Pam Andersen, Chad Andersen, Bobbetta and Matthew Foxworth, Arles "Andy" Andersen, Maria and Luke Trowbridge, Joseph Andersen, Selinda Wainwright, Heather and Bart Tucker, Paul Andersen Jr. and his significant other, Nichole, Erica Lebaron, Gabrielle Andersen, Emmalynne Knuth and Sophia Knuth; 15 great-grandchildren, Drake, Arianne, Alese, Autumn, Tiffany, Payden, Jason Jr., Eugene, Felisha, Cashius, Edwin, Reyann, Sabrina, Aubrey and Abygail; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and others who called her mom and grandma.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her stepfather, Lloyd Savage; a son, Bruce A. Andersen, in infancy; and a great-granddaughter, Jordyn Nicole Olson.
Pallbearers will be Craig, Chad, Joseph, Paul Jr. and Andy Andersen and Robert Knuth. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Cornils Jr.
